AWB has reached a milestone of twenty years of providing theatre arts to people of all ages with physical disabilities. Our organization provides much more than the performing arts – it most importantly also provides a sense of community where friendships are made between actors, families, and staff.

Since the start of 2024, Acting Without Boundaries launched AWB Connects. The program was launched with a focus around community-building and arts exploration. Through Connects, we host weekly virtual get-togethers called TGIF Socials where actors are able to check in with fellow actors and friends. Additionally, through these weekly zoom check-ins, AWB hosts influential and inspiring guest speakers to facilitate discussion with our actors through our TGIF Social: Guest Speaker Sessions. We also host a party for every occasion like Halloween, Valentine’s Day, etc. and plan field trips, workshops, get-togethers and more.

The program is not only fun and beneficial for the actors but is also beneficial for parents and families as we cultivate a space for caregivers through our Parent Resource Group (PRG) led by AWB’s Musical Director, Maria Ceferatti to congregate and explore their options as parents.

Often, living with a disability can be isolating, but the goal of Connects strives to elevate that need by providing social opportunities and a safe space for participants to explore.

AWB relies on volunteers.

The first Sunday of every month volunteers assist our actors at workshops as they learn their lines and rehearse their parts. Our most dedicated volunteers support our actors throughout the year and are a part of the yearly performance. There are opportunities for people who want a creative outlet through set design, props and costume development. Great for early teens, adults and seniors!
