Ages 4 – Teen
About Our Program
Meet the youngest thespians at AWB: our AWB Juniors. In this program, our actors collaborate to adapt a children’s book, fable or fairy tale into a musical. Each month they work together to create a script, write song lyrics, and rehearse, culminating in a spring show. During this process, the actors build skills in teamwork, public speaking, and confidence. Friendships form and most importantly—they have fun!
Eligibility to Participate
- No acting experience needed
- Ages 4 – Teen
- Have a physical disability
- Be able to memorize lines
- Commit to 8 monthly workshops culminating in a spring musical
“I believe there are no boundaries in the world of acting regardless of one’s disability. I wanted to create a place where kids could get involved in theater, form friendships and gain confidence. Over the past 20 years, AWB has done that and so much more.”
-Christine Rouse, Founder and Executive Director
“My daughter’s teachers told us she wouldn’t be able to read at the level she’s currently reading at, and she’s exceeded their expectations. Finding AWB has been instrumental in her growth on and off the stage. We are so grateful to this organization.”

AWB Juniors in Action
AWB relies on volunteers.
The first Sunday of every month volunteers assist our actors at workshops as they learn their lines and rehearse their parts. Our most dedicated volunteers support our actors throughout the year and are a part of the yearly performance. There are opportunities for people who want a creative outlet through set design, props and costume development. Great for early teens, adults and seniors!
