Join us in honoring, Alysse Einbender, Sculptor, in receiving the 7th Annual Hero Award.

Alysse Einbender is a fine art sculptor who believes that making, viewing, and interacting with art in all forms has the power to transform lives. The trajectory of her own career as a landscape architect was abruptly upended in 2004 by a spinal stroke that caused permanent paralysis. She learned firsthand how healing the practice of making art can be.

After a difficult adjustment period, Alysse became a mentor to newly injured patients with spinal cord injuries. When Moss Rehab in Elkins Park was selected as the only site in the country to test the ReWalk, (an exoskeleton that helps paraplegics walk) Alysse was the first person in the United States to trial the groundbreaking technology. She served as a proud Inglis board member for three consecutive terms and co-founded the United Spinal Association’s Philadelphia Chapter, acting as its president for seven years. While working as Project Manager of the All About Art show at Moss Rehab, Alysse’s early love of sculpture was reignited and for the last decade she has devoted herself to sharing her journey – three-dimensionally. She wants her art to remind people to cherish their story, know their unique gift, and carry it through life with conviction.

AWB relies on volunteers.

The first Sunday of every month volunteers assist our actors at workshops as they learn their lines and rehearse their parts. Our most dedicated volunteers support our actors throughout the year and are a part of the yearly performance. There are opportunities for people who want a creative outlet through set design, props and costume development. Great for early teens, adults and seniors!
