Maria Ceferatti

AWB Musical Director and AWB Juniors Artistic Director

Maria Ceferatti is an award-winning composer and educator. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Catholic University and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Rosemont College. Her video, If Blind Kids Ruled the World, won the inaugural Cinema Without Sight Festival in Los Angeles, and she was nominated for Philadelphia Youth Orchestra’s Outstanding Teacher Ovation Award. Maria teaches general music at St. Lucy School for Children with Visual Impairments, directs the string ensemble at Archbishop Carroll High School and instructs private piano and violin lessons at Holy Child Academy. As a writing teacher, she leads creative writing classes for adults at Main Line School Night and presents writing workshops for children with the Young Writers’ Day Program. Maria also facilitates a tele-support group for parents of blind children sponsored by Educating Communities for Parenting. As Music Director of AWB, Sr., Maria has arranged and directed the music for 17 shows. For AWB Jr., Maria has adapted the scripts, composed the music and directed the productions of 14 shows including How Spiders Came to Be: The Tale of Arachne, Stone Soup, and the world premieres of the beloved children’s books The Dot and Will, the One-Winged Eagle. Her essays, poetry and short stories have been published in literary magazines throughout the U.S. and Canada, but the accomplishment she is most proud of is being a mother to AWB, Sr actor, Simon Bonenfant!
