In 2024, AWB celebrated 20 years of providing theatre opportunities for people of all ages with physical disabilities. This fall, we held two major events to commemorate this special milestone: The 20^th Anniversary Celebration and a joint production of the AWB Seniors and Juniors called The AWB 20^th Anniversary Extravaganza.

On Wednesday, September 18^th, AWB celebrated our 20^th anniversary by holding the 20^th Anniversary Celebration at Water Works by Cescaphe in Philadelphia. During the celebration, AWB held our annual live and silent auctions accompanied by cocktail hour, buffet, and take-home cookies as gifts for attendees. Throughout the evening, AWB journeyed through our 20-year legacy via a joint performance of AWB parents, actors, and board as well as the first look of AWB’s film project, “Disable the Myths“. Through joy and song, AWB harked back onto previous shows and productions through songs such as “Magic to Do” from Pippin and looked towards the future through presenting selections from our most recent show, The AWB 20^th Anniversary Extravaganza.

The AWB 20^th Anniversary Extravaganza went live from Centennial Hall at The Haverford School on Sunday, September 28^th. The joint production of both AWB Seniors and AWB Juniors embarked on a journey back in time with video messages from AWB alumni as well as throwbacks to previous years. The show was set against a thematic backdrop inspired by Acting Without Boundaries’ first ever production, The Inaugural Show, which consisted of a 1940s radio broadcast with ads, stories, and weather reports filled with humor and life. Overall, The AWB 20^th Anniversary Extravaganza was a huge success, leaving audience members both in tears and full of laughter!
