Acting Without Boundaries has the privilege to announce that we are the recipients of the 2024 George Bartol Arts Education Award. This award was established in 2001 to recognize and celebrate non-profit arts education programs that have provided outstanding work to their community. Each year, only one organization is recognized by the Bartol Foundation to receive the honor of being designated as its award honoree. In order to be considered, “the organization selected provides sustained, meaningful participation in the arts… demonstrates an active engagement in the lives of  its students and community; and… maintains high artistic standards for its faculty and students” (https://bartol.org/grants/meet-our-grantees/).

Through this acknowledgment, Acting Without Boundaries will be granted another $5,000 to further support our programs and spread our mission of the importance of celebrating ability. Our initial grant of $6,000 will help to fund our AWB Acting Lab program – a program that was built to further our reach by bringing our expertise to those outside of Acting Without Boundaries and into partnering organizations, schools, and hospitals. To learn more about our Acting Lab program, you can find more info HERE. The additional $5,000 granted to us through this award will be used for general operations to support staff, additional programs, and more!

Our mission at Acting Without Boundaries is to transform lives and build self-esteem in an empowering community of people with physical disabilities through performing arts programs that celebrates ability. To be recognized by the Bartol Foundation to be doing exactly what we strive to do – to be empowering lives and pushing for inclusion in spaces otherwise unexplored for people with physical disabilities is a huge achievement and accomplishment. We are grateful to the Bartol Foundation for this monumental award and for granting us your support in assisting us to continue to fight for inclusion, inclusivity, diversity, and individuality. AWB relies on volunteers.

The first Sunday of every month volunteers assist our actors at workshops as they learn their lines and rehearse their parts. Our most dedicated volunteers support our actors throughout the year and are a part of the yearly performance. There are opportunities for people who want a creative outlet through set design, props and costume development. Great for early teens, adults and seniors!
